Help Resources for Community Living

Last week a long-time listener of WGN's Steve and Johnnie show, Susan, explained how State cuts have hurt Resources for Community Living, which offers help to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Susan and the facility's other residents will be impacted by the cuts. In this conversation, Steve and Johnnie find out more from executive director, Dr. Robert Walsh, and explore some ways they can help. Please go to the Media page to listen to this informative interview.

Please click on the URL below and you will be taken to the JustGive website. JustGive is a nonprofit organization that connects people with the charities they care about. They process charitable contributions. The transactions are secure and private. Their website will give you full information about the donation system.

Special thanks to the Progressive Services Network (PSN), for their 2010 grant of $21,550 dollars in support of the independent living services provided by RCL. PSN is a charitable organization working to make a difference in the lives of young adults with developmental disabilities. PSN raises money to support the best in community-based housing and program services for special needs individuals. At the event, Mirea presented a check for $9,500 to RCL. She assisted the group with the purchase, and waived her commission towards the purchase price of the property RCL acquired.

Resources for Community Living is a not-for-profit organization offering adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities opportunities to achieve greater dignity and independence. For further information, please contact Dr. Bob Walsh at 847-701-1554.

A big Thank You to the Kiwanis Club of Palatine who donated $847.00 to RCL.
Thank you Kiwanis for your support!

Liana Mirea, RCL Board Member, donated the Real Estate Commission due her for her role in the RCL Office Purchase.

Thanks to the efforts of Board Member Jon Kinney and Katie Thomason, we have the opportunity to thank Illinois Tool Works for their donation of $6,588.

We would also like to thank the First Congregational Church of Des Plaines, the Park Ridge Community Church Women's Circle, and Memorials for Kathleen Brokamp and Wilma Peters, whose families suggested donations to RCL rather than flowers.

Making RCL a part of your Birthday Celebration

Maybe you already have enough “stuff” and would like to suggest that your birthday celebrants honor you with a donation to RCL. In July an anonymous donor did just that and RCL was fortunate to receive over $2,000 in contributions.

Happy Birthday!

On September 27th, 5:00 p.m., Mayor Ken Nelson of Rolling Meadows along with other dignitaries, clients and local business owners participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for RCL-Resources for Community Living, in Rolling Meadows, 4300 Lincoln Avenue. The ceremony was celebrating the purchase of RCL's current office, Suite K and Suite J. The purchase was made possible particularly through the efforts of Liana Mirea, RCL Board Member and Commercial Real Estate Broker for ACRE-American Commercial Real Estate, Inc.
